CranioSacral Therapy

Discovered in the early 20th century, the CranioSacral system is comprised of the cranial membranes and the cerebrospinal fluid that make up a hydraulic system that protects and insulates the brain and spinal cord. This physiological system also contains the bones of the face and skull and mouth (the cranium) and extends all the way down to the tailbone (sacrum). By palpating the movement of the fluid and the membranes and the bones, we can evaluate and improve the functioning of the central nervous system as well as locate problems in many different body systems that are reflected there. CranioSacral Therapy was developed by Dr. John Upledger, a most extraordinary physician, in extensive studies from 1975 to the present. It is a very soft, hands-on technique which can undo restrictions found, and can be practiced on newborns as well as fragile or elderly people. It is used to locate and solve problems by enabling your body’s innate healing abilities to function; it is used to neutralize the many ill effects of stress; is effective for many chronic and acute conditions associated with pain; and it increases your natural resistance to disease.
